If you have teeth that are discoloured, chipped, worn or uneven or have gaps between them we can rectify it with dental veneers. As the name suggests, they are wafer thin shells. They are specially made from porcelain or resin composites and fit permanently on the front surfaces of the affected teeth to match your natural teeth.
At the first appointment, we examine your teeth to make sure veneers will be suitable and may take X-rays. To prepare for the veneer or veneers we remove a tiny amount (about five times the thickness of a £5 note!) from the front surface of the tooth or teeth. We then take impressions, which we send to the dental laboratory for them to make the veneers.
At your next visit, we check that the veneers are the correct shape and colour before preparing your teeth for the bonding process. The veneers are then fixed using an adhesive that is cured very quickly using a special blue light beam.
Any excess adhesive is removed and final adjustments made, after which you can depart smiling.
Are your teeth stained, chipped, or not aligned on top of each other? Veneers are a good treatment option to consider because they look like natural teeth and don't require a major procedure. Veneers can also be used to close small gaps when braces are not suitable. If one tooth is slightly out of position, a veneer can sometimes be fitted to bring it into line with the others.
